Silky Earthdance

Earthdance is the largest simultaneous dance party in the world! Formed in 1997, it was created from a vision of utilising technology and the positive energy of the global dance movement and encouraging people across the world to dance together for world peace. The vision became a reality, and Earthdance has grown and grown every year to all the corners of the globe.Silky logo

Earthdance 2004 is the 8th annual global Earthdance party and takes place on Saturday 18th September, as close as possible to the United Nations International Day of Peace (that takes place annually on 21st September).

The unifying moment is the special Earthdance ambient peace track that is played at every party at midnight gmt - evening in America, morning in Australia and sunrise over the Himalayas. The track can be listened to and downloaded from earthdance.org

Each party raises money for designated charities that support the environment and tribal peoples such as Rainforest Action Network and Survival International. Promoters for each party can choose the charity they would like their event to sponsor from a number of charities on earthdance.org

Most peoples' first Earthdance is something that they always treasure and remember. Mine was on tropical Fitzroy Island on the Great Barrier Reef off Australia. Aboriginal people - the traditional custodians of the land - were at the party, Peace Divisions' remix of Yothu Yindis 'Treaty' (a driving house tune about white and Aboriginal reconciliation in Australia) was played, large screens showed parties from across the globe from the webcast on the Earthdance web-site, and dj Wahine, making her dj'ing debut, laid down quality atmospheric breaks by the beach - a truly unique and unforgettable experience!

Club Connected regulars may be familiar with Earthdance as Connected resident dj Stu Bradley played last year to a packed crowd @ the Silky Earthdance party in Cambridge.A Guy Called Gerald

This year, Earthdance have introduced the Artist of Peace award, and are attempting to break the world record for simultaneous drumming with the Drums of Peace.

Silky dj's played at Earthdance parties in both hemispheres with Mistress de Funk and Chika at Earthdance Manchester [www.earthdance.org/manchester] and Wahine at Earthdance in Tropical North Australia [www.earthdance-cairns.com]

Also at Earthdance Manchester was A Guy Called Gerald and 808 State dj's.

This year Earthdance more parties and more people than ever before taking part as news of this magical, innovative event was passed on quickly through 'underground' channels across the globe!

Silky productions continue to support great caulses year after year, check out the website for details of the next party in your area.
