"At the beginning (Freak n'Chic began in 2003), Freak n'Chic started for my friends and myself to have a label to see our music on vinyl. It's always a long time from the moment you send a demo; to the moment you have an answer from a label. So the sound of Fn'C is the result of our work in the studio, without thinking of a style to suit.
For many of them it was their first release (such as Jamie Jones, Shonky, Sebastien Bouchet etc) and gave them the chance to prove they have their own sound.. Discovering new talent is one of the goals of the label and gives the opportunity for our music style to be defused.. Freak n'Chic style..
After four years of Freak n'Chic, it was natural to have a compilation. CD 1 of 'Rendez-Vous' is 12 exclusive unmixed tracks, with some deep tunes and some more dancefloor tracks (some Freak/some Chic).. CD2 is some tracks of the back catalogue mixed by Shonky and Dyed Soundorom. Here Freak n'Chic presents 'Rendez-Vous'. 12 Freak n'Chic artists - of past, present and future - make music especially for this compilation - the first from Freak n'Chic. They are Freak n'Chic; this is Freak n'Chic.
Dan Ghenacia established his name through his now infamous Sunday morning party 'Kwality' at Le Batofar, an old boat moored on the River Seine in the South of Paris. He now holds a Sunday Freak n'Chic residency at Le Zebre in Paris, an old cabaret theatre on the eastern outskirts. In the summer Ghenacia is weekly resident at both Circo Loco at DC10 and We Love at Space.
