Guy Gerber's 'Supplement Facts' imprint ends 2007 with a release from Gerber himself and sometime production partner Chaim with the 'Saltamonte' EP.
This year has seen Gerber's Supplement Facts step up the pace in the independent label sphere.. Releases from David K, RE:Shuffle (Gerber and Niv Hadas) and two releases from Guy Gerber and Chaim (the first in April with 'Myspace/Beaches' ) have received props from DJs including John Digweed and Claude Von Stroke. The last Supplement Facts release from RE:Shuffle (released September) reached Number 1 in Resident Advisor's September Top 50 chart - compiled from the top entries of DJ's charts from around the world: SEE HERE .. Not bad..
Track 1, 'Saltamonte' - meaning 'grasshopper' in Spanish and weighing in at just under ten minutes long - begins with a dubby b-line intro and gradually builds warm acidic layers that stab and weave in and out of your conscience; leading to a spacey mid-way break and a more sinister, detroit inspired, second half.
Track 2, 'Milky Way' - the name denotes the style here.. Heavy compression drags the bottom-line forward whilst the spacey top-end compliments and creates a late-night 'out-worldly' groover.
Gerber, based in Tel Aviv, released his debut album 'Late Bloomers' on Cocoon earlier this year to great world-wide support. He has spent the latter half of 2007 building and developing his Supplement Facts imprint to become a solid home for his own productions and those of his friends. Gerber has previously released on some of the world's most respected labels - with his 'Stoppage Time' EP released on Bedrock, reaching the five-figure mark in world-wide sales - no mean feat in today's music market.
Chaim has released on labels including Missive Music, Cocoon, Traum Schallplatten and BPitch Control. He splits his time between studio work in the countryside of Israel - working on his live show and album - and playing gigs in and outside of Israel. Gaining DJ support from the likes of Vath, Garnier, Tiga, Digweed and Sasha, Chaim is without doubt one of today's most innovative up and coming young producers.
