It all began with a very simple concept: making music you can dance to - now SuperStyleDeluxe are responsible for many of the floor-rocking breakbeat hits that have made your booty shake in the last few years.
SuperStyleDeluxe are the English music production duo Dan Holmes & Neil Simons, who teamed up at Stump Juice in Wolverhampton and began mass-producing a series of mix tapes that traversed musical boundaries by drawing upon breaks, hip hop beats, funk, disco and anything with a solid groove.
The slick combination of Dans dj-ing/turntablism and Neils production has created a super stylish and deluxe sound that has received widespread acclaim from industry heavyweights The Plump Djs, Krafty Kuts and Mr Scruff, and has been no stranger to play lists of hoards of djs around the globe. Remixes have seen Dido, Bent, Venus Hum, Reno, Pink & Stabilizer, Circuit Breaker & The Strike Boys receive the SuperStyleDeluxe treatment.
The pair have also achieved great praise with Breakspoll nominations, number one chartings and worldwide exposure with their releases, and are now coming off Krafty Kuts Brighton heavyweight breaks label SuperCharged/Against The Grain with the highly-anticipated debut album which boasts vocal contributions from MC Chickaboo, Yolanda, and Theo.
The UK lads also have their own respected record label, The Payback Project, with prominent releases from the likes of Smithmonger, Rebel Sketchy, Capoiera Twins and Bukue One. The boys first release, Step It Up, was also released on the label, and provided a full-frontal assault on the dance-floor through funk-filled drums, stabs and bassline melodies and the expertise of Mantis, one half of UK hip-hop group The Aspects.
Earlier this year saw the release of Sugar Coated Stylus Pops, which reflects the duos recent musical influences and has been touted by Dan as our finest mix-tape ever featuring the likes of Stanton Warriors, Boca 45 and Mighty Dub Katz, one of Norman Cooks many pseudonyms.
