Original 80s New York House prodigy Todd The God Terry returns to London after a long absence to show the capital just what it has been missing and to launch his newest album Strictly Todd Terry.
Todd the God, they called him. In the late 80s, Todd Terry was New York house music. Arguably he invented it, certainly he defined it. In truth, the moniker was probably coined by a deadline-surfing journalist searching for a quick headline. However, it stuck, because Todd Terry bestrode the scene like a colossus. He remains there to this day, simply commanding respect from everyone he encounters. Just knowing he will play causes hype 20 years on.
His work in the 80 and early 90s laid down the foundations of what we would call deep, progressive and jackin house and contributed greatly to the evolution of Strictly Rhythm. We have to remind you that this was the guy who introduced the nation to the beginning of Acid House, he bought us the crossover remixes of I'll House You" by the Jungle Brothers and "Missing" by Everything But the Girl and also had his own hits with "Something Goin On'" (1997) and "Keep on Jumpin" (1996) which were both UK Top-10s. His reason for returning back onto the scene? A new album on Strictly Rhythm, a hypnotic mix of his most favoured releases from the early years of the label as well as his new single Get Down feat My My My vocalist Tara McDonald (a sure fire radio hit) produced by the Todd Terry All Stars, Todds new production crew consisting of Todd, Kenny Dope and DJ Sneak.
You may think that at this point its all about Todd but offering humble support is another Titan of house Sandy Rivera. Famed for his 2002 release Finally the gold plated house music anthem that catapulted him into the number 1 slot in the worlds dance charts and made him into a superstar DJ Icon overnight.
Out of the main room and into the bar you will find Defected protégés Copyright and Andy Daniel delivering a set full of up front quality house tracks that will give the bar that huge party vibe that it is so well know for.
